The world currently generates 2.01 billion tonnes of solid waste annually, which is expected to grow to 3.4 billion tonnes by 2050. Polystyrene takes up an estimate 30% of space in landfills and can linger there for about 500 years.
Not great.
Thankfully, there are some amazing small business out there helping companies, like ours, out with more sustainable solutions. It means we can offer better options for both packaging and delivery, to help you feel good about what you buy, and help us continue our commitment to celebrate and protect the planet.
Ahead of Christmas, we’ve added a new range of exclusive gifts including environmentally friendly gift ideas to our website. All our gifts will be packaged in a sustainable way and then delivered using DPD’s carbon neutral delivery service.

DPD CARBON NEUTRAL DELIVERY
Seedlip is using DPD’s fleet of 700 all-electric, CO2 emission-free delivery vans, a greener alternative that commits to offset their remaining transport emissions. DPD are committed to clean, green delivery and aim to become the greenest delivery company on the planet.
GREEN GIFT BOX
All gift items will be packaged in sustainably sourced, paper-based Flexi-Hex packaging within a recycled gift box, printed with water-based Earthinks®.
Flexi-Hex
Inspired by strong honeycomb structures found in nature, Flexi-Hex is made of 100% recycled material and can be recycled or biodegraded [it will compost in six weeks].
Twins Sam and Will Boex who have a passion for surfing, started the company when they recognised the impact that single use plastics is having on the world’s marine environment. Now they develop sustainable packaging solutions for a wide range of industries, including board sports.
Flexi Hex are finalists in this year’s National Recycling Awards.
MYCELIUM PACKAGING
Our leading gift set in our new range is the Seedlip Spice 94 Mycelium gift set. Mycelium is the root structure of mushrooms, a bio-contributing material, which breaks down naturally in soil within 40 days. We have to thank Magical Mushroom Company for helping us out with this.

Nestled in this magical material is the gift itself. A full-size bottle of Seedlip Spice 94, our favourite Seedlip Spirit to sip during the colder months, plus a 100% recycled highball glass.
Once you’re done with your package, you can add it to your home compost and it will break down naturally, adding nutrients to the soil. Amazing stuff, right?
